Congratulations Abdus! Successful Completion of Rendel’s First Apprenticeship

Rendel’s apprenticeship programme has reached a significant milestone as we congratulate Abdus Ahmed on being the first person to successfully achieve his qualification.  Abdus has now achieved a Higher Level Apprenticeship (Level 4), which is equivalent to a Higher National Certificate (HNC) and the course has satisfied the requirements to enable Abdus to pursue registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Rendel is committed to a range of training routes to develop individual capability and careers which, in turn, enhances the skills within the broader engineering industry. We already have a track record of recruiting and training graduate engineers and technicians to become members of relevant professional institutions. We also provide work placements, experience and shadowing opportunities to undergraduates and have STEM ambassadors spreading the word about civil engineering careers in schools.

One of Rendel’s current board members started at the company, then known as High-Point Rendel, as an apprentice 25 years ago, so we value the opportunities that this route into engineering can provide. Rendel also recognises that to meet the skill gaps within the industry, more needs to be done at different entry levels and career paths, so as well as the civil engineering apprenticeship programme, we have added a CAD programme through which two apprentices currently diligently developing their skills.

Rendel’s apprenticeships and other development schemes depend on the support of our engineering and CAD/BIM teams, who provide training, mentoring, support and guidance through the process.  We thank them for their enthusiasm and commitment to developing others.
