Nepal strategic road network

Rendel, in association with IMC Worldwide, has been appointed on a road maintenance project to raise the quality of the strategic road network in Nepal.

The project is funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a US government foreign aid agency which was created to help fight against global poverty. The MCC is working with the Government of Nepal to support the transport sector on both infrastructure activities and activities related to policy, legal regulatory and institutional reform.

Rendel’s highway team and IMC will be providing technical assistance related to road maintenance planning, assessment and implementation to strengthen and build capacity to enable government agencies to plan and execute routine and periodic maintenance.

The assistance will be reinforced through a “learning by doing” approach on a subset of the strategic road network and include maintenance activities that reduce road roughness and vehicle operating costs. Technical solutions will be introduced including deep lift reclamation with cement stabilisation and Superpave high modulus asphalts to enhance pavement performance.
