Rendel and Ingerop share their strengths to secure Ghana Road Improvement Project

A consortium of Rendel and Ingerop has been appointed to provide engineering consultancy services for a US$1 million, 22-week programme of road improvements between Accra and Tema Port Area in Ghana.
The programme will see necessary upgrades to the existing Accra-Tema N1 motorway – expanding it from four to six lanes. Additional construction will introduce slip roads, interchanges, pedestrian overpasses over an approximate length of 19 kilometres. In addition, improvements will be made to six kilometres of the existing Hospital Road and three kilometres of the Meridian Road. A temporary haulage road will be created to facilitate the port construction. The haulage road will then be upgraded into an access road in the final phase of the port construction.
The client, Meridian Port Services (MPS), awarded the contract to carry out the FEED/preliminary design and the FIDIC contract documents for the improvement of the access roads. MPS is a joint venture between APM Terminals, Bolloré and the Ghana Port Authority.
This is the first project secured through a collaborative approach by Ingerop and Rendel, with both firms drawing on their particular strengths to demonstrate their suitability for this work. Ingerop’s strong relationship with the Bolloré Group was complemented by Rendel’s impressive track record in Ghana and experience of preparing FIDIC contract documents.
