This project was part of the key Pan-European Corridor IX, funded by the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), the largest financial investor in Ukraine

The State Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) implemented an EBRD-funded Roads Rehabilitation Project for repairs to three sections of the M05 Kiev-Odessa Road.

Rendel provided construction supervision of the civil works on the capital repair of three sections of the M-05 (18.76 kilometres, 16.0, and 29.0 kilometres long) which included the reconstruction of the dual carriageway road, widening, bridge repairs, drainage, and road safety improvement works.

The works were situated to the south of Kiev, and follow the alignment of the existing M05 road, immediately to the end of the Bila Tserkva bypass.

The construction contracts were let under a FIDIC-type contract with Rendel as the Engineer. The use of such contracts assisted in strengthening the administration and management of Ukravtodor’s projects, improved governance, and provided value for money through application of international management practices.
