Ground Engineering

Rendel's capability in the geotechnical sector covers a wide variety of expertise and techniques. These range from the identification of ground related risk, to the design of heavy foundations and tunnelling, as well as expert witness and forensic engineering services.

We provide services over a range of (on-shore, near-shore and off-shore) project sizes and a variety of aspects.

Our ground engineering experience can be grouped under seven main sectors:

  • Site assessment, desk studies and monitoring
  • Heavy engineering (foundations, tunnelling, basements/sub-surface works, retaining structures)
  • Buildings (foundations, basements, gas and waterproofing, monitoring, damage assessment)
  • Slopes and cliffs
  • Ports and maritime geotechnics including land reclamation
  • Earthworks and ground improvement
  • Technical expertise services (technical advice, FEM, value engineering, risk assessments, expert witness and forensic engineering)

GROUND ENGINEERING Capabilities

  • Desk studies, geomorphological surveys, site/ground investigations and ground models, monitoring, environmental studies and contaminated ground
  • Ground and groundwater related risks identification, assessment and management
  • Deep and shallow foundations design for major civil infrastructures (e.g. bridges, industrial) and buildings
  • Basements
  • Retaining walls and structures
  • Slope and cliffs assessment, stabilisation, development and management
  • Submerged and bored tunnels
